Institutional racism in the police is a frequent problem in the Netherlands. Hate killings committed by its employees can be noted. In 2013, police officer of The Hague shot Rishi Chandrikasing, a Dutch citizen of Suriname-Indian descent, for ignoring the police order to stop. Investigation, following the death of 42-year-old Arubi Mitch Henriquez, who was beaten and suffocated to death by Dutch police officers in The Hague revealed the deep rooted problem of institutional racism among Dutch police.
